Deep in the annals of history, well summer 1997; two brothers, Jimmy and Ian Greenwood, went on a rally. Both Jimmy and Ian had been in various bike clubs and neither of them had found the clubs gave them what they wanted. They had come to a decision to create their own club, but what would they call it. At that point an attractive, scantily clad member of the opposite sex walked by, Jimmy and Ian paused to admire the view. Various people on the campsite noticed this happening and somebody shouted out “You two are just a couple of Perverts in Leather”. Jimmy and Ian realised instantly that this was the name they had been searching for and that their lives would never be the same again (well that’s a bit of an overstatement but it sounds quite dramatic doesn’t it).

The man – 51 years old, a lover of all good things in life. Somewhat limited by physical disability and other assorted maladies. The machine – 2006 Harley Davidson FLHTPI ( Police model). The goal – Attempt to experience a season of epic and semi-epic motorcycle journeys to an assortment of places and events, many of which I’ve never been to.

I saw on teletext that one of my biggest musical heroes is dead.

On May 16, 1981 Dag Vag and Ebba Grön played at Hyttan in Karlstad. I was 16 and was there with some friends and we had an unforgettable experience with two of the biggest Swedish bands at the time.

Besides the gigs being fantastic we somehow managed to end up backstage and got to hang width and talk to both Ebba and Dag Vag. They had opposite dressing rooms and there were some other people there as well and some where in Ebba’s loge and some in Dag Vags and then we switched back and forth.

My friend had a cousin who lived in the same building as Stig Vig, and once when she came home late, there was no light in the stairwell. She accidentally stepped on Stigs foot as he was standing in the stairwell in the dark. “Wow, what did I say?” Stig asked when my friend told the story. “You said ouch!” said my friend and everyone in the room and Stig most of all roared with laughter.

An amazing coincidence, one of the others who were hanging backstage was a girl I do not remember that I noticed her at the time, but 23 years later she became my wife.

The next time I saw Dag Vag was at Parkhallen in Arvika, a few years later. At that time the floor collapsed about halfway into the show because everyone in the audience was jumping up and down in time with the music. My friend threw a note with a greeting up on the stage and after the gig Stig who had read the note came out and talked to us. The strange thing was that he remembered us from the time before and asked what had happened with stuff we had talked about then.

Another fantastic Dag Vag-gig I attended was in 2008 at Sofia Hogs 40th birthday party. Then I managed to dance so I lost the heel of one of my biker boots, and had to walk around with a limp the rest of the weekend.

The last time I saw Dag Vag (or at least Stig) was also on a bike-party. That was when Järngrisen MC in Sunne celebrated 20 years in July 2010, so in a way you could say that Stig and Dag Vag has followed me half of my life.
